An experienced international performer,
baritone Eric Carampatan made his Australian debut as baritone soloist for
Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem under the baton of conductor
Eric Whitacre at the famed Sydney Opera House, has toured Europe as a featured
soloist with The Sound of America National Honor Band and Chorus and was a
guest recitalist for China's Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Grand
Theater, and Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Operatic portrayals
include Guglielmo in Mozart's Così Fan Tutte, Papageno in
Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, the title role in Puccini's Gianni
Schicchi, Bob in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, Maximillian
in Bernstein's Candide, David in Barber's A Hand of Bridge,
the Bartender in Mollicone's The Face on the Barroom Floor, Arete,
in the world premiere of Eric Whitacre's Paradise Lost: Opera Electronica,
Gasparo in Donizetti's Rita and Marquis in Auber’s Manon
Lescaut for Lyric Opera Los Angeles, Baron Douphol in Verdi's La
Traviata for Martinez Opera Contra Costa, Chou-En Lai in Act I of John
Adams' opera Nixon in China with the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra,
Belcore in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore and Marullo
in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Center Stage Opera, and the title
role in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Opera in the Ozarks
at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Ark. On the concert stage, Carampatan
has performed the baritone solos for Bach's Ein Feste Burg, Mozart's Missa
Brevis in F Major, Dvorák's Te Deum, Dubois's The Seven Last Words
of Christ, Fauré's Requiem, Vaughan Williams's Fantasia
on Christmas Carols, and Duruflé's Requiem with the Los
Angeles Metropolitan Orchestra. Recently, Carampatan made concert appearances
in “Opera Under the Stars” in Santa Barbara, was a guest artist
in the 5th Annual Summer Hoku Concert Series in Kona, Hawaii with soprano
Ani Maldjian, performed the bass solos in Handel’s Messiah
with the Tehacthapi Symphonic Chorale, and the chorus of Mozart's Die
Zauberflöte and Floyd’s Susannah with Opera Pacific.
Upcoming engagements include Handel’s Messiah with the Windsong
Southland Chorale, the Opera Santa Barbara Educational Outreach Program and
the bass solos in Bach’s Cantata 182 with the Towne Singers.
